We would like to thank the volunteers from the school http://kiterra.kiev.ua/ for their help in sorting the books!
When we write about book donations, the work of volunteers usually goes unmentioned. However, without their help, the project would not have been possible. It is especially gratifying to see how actively Ukrainian children are involved in the volunteer movement! Today, we would like to thank the students and teacher of KITERRA School for their help, who devoted several hours of their time to sorting books for the Goodnight project: Alina, Amina, Ulyana and Tymofiy!
“All the books have different textures, fonts and contents, and I savour each one, albeit for a short time. It must have been the same feeling Scrooge had when he was sorting through the gold coins,” writes Alina Tuz about her volunteer experience with the books. It sounds very poetic, although the work is actually not that easy – it requires care, concentration and even physical strength.
The literature that is immediately eliminated is books in Russian. Next, the “face control” assesses the condition of the book: its neatness, whether all pages are present, whether there is any damage, etc. Our volunteers diligently follow the short instructions. The conveyor starts to work faster and faster (inspect – sort into the appropriate pile – stamp – put into a box) and the time flies by.
As a result:
260 books are ready for shipment, including 10 for adults.
We rejected 20 copies for recycling (substandard and hate speech).
Our collection is ongoing, and we invite educational institutions, companies and organisations to participate!
To donate books for children or initiate a collection at your location, please contact the coordinator Tetyana Oblakevych at press@eif.org.ua or via personal messages on the project page.
Anyone can also send books to the Nova Poshta branch #58 in Kyiv. For more details, please contact Tetiana.
Together towards victory!
