100 Books for Kherson Library from the “Dobranich” Project

100 Books for Kherson Library from the “Dobranich” Project

 23 October 2024

We are pleased to report the delivery of 100 books from the “Dobranich” project by the Educational Initiatives Foundation to the library in Kherson!

De-occupied Kherson Oblast, which continues to suffer from enemy shelling, is in need of Ukrainian literature. Destroyed libraries, books removed by occupiers, complicated logistics and business operations – these are the realities of life in the city and region today.

Yet the need for Ukrainian-language materials here exists, and it is growing!

According to librarians, residents of the region are increasingly switching to Ukrainian for communication, and this requires more reading. Therefore, we could not ignore the request from Volodymyr Bahnenko, a Kherson native, psychologist and writer from the South, who regularly collects and delivers books to his native Kherson Oblast.

This time, books carefully selected by volunteers from the Educational Initiatives Foundation have been added to this valuable cargo – these include children’s books for various age groups as well as books for adults.

These days, the team of the Educational Initiatives Foundation, in partnership with the Sika Ukraine Foundation, delivered the first ambulance equipped with special equipment to the front-line regions. This vehicle was purchased by our partners in Switzerland.

We express our gratitude to the General Director of Sika Ukraine, Oleksandr Panchenko, and the Head of Finance and Control Department, Maryna Ihnatenko, for their strong support and cooperation in national charitable projects during the war.

The Educational Initiatives Foundation has become the operational partner of the “Territorial Defense of the Sky” project, which raises funds to purchase drones for our defenders. To celebrate World Vyshyvanka Day, the project team held a fundraising presentation by setting up a vibrant art installation, “Throne of the Victory,” near the Kyiv City State Administration building. From now on, every passerby can learn more about the project and make a quick donation.

The “Throne of the Victor” art installation, created by sculptors from hisoshi.art.studio, will be showcased in various locations around Kyiv and other cities in Ukraine to draw attention to the fundraising goal.

100 Books for Children from Okhmatdyt

100 Books for Children from Okhmatdyt

On International Children’s Book Day, volunteers from the “Good Night” project of the Educational Initiatives Foundation presented a wonderful book gift to the little patients of the National Children’s Specialized Hospital “Okhmatdyt”.
100 Ukrainian-language books will be distributed among the hospital’s department libraries to bring joy to children who, on these sunny days, are unable to leave their wards.

May this magical touch of the Ukrainian fairy tale word bring patients the strength for a speedy recovery and a lot of positive emotions.

We thank all the doctors and the team of the National Children’s Specialized Hospital “Okhmatdyt” for the little miracle you are creating for the children of Ukraine.

We are working on our further joint projects.
